UPCOMING EVENTS Art from Zimbabwe receives
worldwide acclaim. Newsweek hailed it as "perhaps the most important new
art form to emerge from Africa in this Century." The New York Times stated
that it “has become a wholly indigenous modern art form created exclusively as
a forum of artistic expression." Collen Nyanhongo is a member of the most
celebrated family of stone sculptors and at a young age learned from his well known father, Claude, founding
member of the Zimbabwe Sculpture movement. Collen blends traditional into
transcendental metaphorical expression. His work has been honored in Zimbabwe,
France Netherlands, Denmark, Australia, Holland, England, Switzerland, Germany,
South Africa and the United States. Eldorado Springs Art Center will
be hosting an exhibition of Collen’s stone carvings from Oct 1 through Oct 10th.
Stone Carving Workshops with Collen Nyanhongo Session 1 Oct 2,3,9,10 9am – 4pm $300 Session 2 Oct 5- 8 9am- 4pm $300 There will be material fee for

emerge into an image that both you and the stone create. Working mostly with
hand tools students will learn the intricacies of stone carving. We will be

students will be able to leave with their own sculpture. Once you meet Collen you will trust, revel
